Try out ocean kayaking in Rio de Janeiro on a 4-hour tour with a small group. Start at Praia Vermelha, a protected inlet at the base of Sugar Loaf Mountain and make your way out to a nearby island. This area is a charming, unique paradise within the city. Once you're out on the water, you'll get beautiful view of Rio and its beaches. All equipment is included and there will be instruction on paddling techniques and safety procedures from an expert kayaking guide. Participants must know how to swim. Pickup and drop-off from central Rio hotels is included.
Pickup from your hotel in central Rio is between 8am and 9am. Take a short drive to Praia Vermelha (Red Beach). After a brief lesson with your expert kayaking guide, hit the water and start paddling to the main destination, the island of Cotunduba, about 1 mile (1.8 km) from the shore. The island is part of an environmental protection area.
While out on the water, get a whole new perspective on the city — with panoramic views of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer. Get in some good exercise and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for marine life like turtles and dolphins.
After your kayaking adventure ends, you will be taken back to your hotel at around 1pm.
