Delve into two rich Chinese cultural traditions – Taoism and tea-drinking – on this 4-hour walking tour of central Chengdu. Visit the Qingyang Gong (Green Goat Palace) Taoist monastery, stroll along the Funan River and through Huanhuaxi Park, and sip a cup of green tea to experience locals' relaxed life in People's Park.
You'll meet your personal guide at Qingyang Gong (Green Goat Palace) at 8:00am or 1:00pm.
Here you'll spend a little over an hour learning about Taoism, the ancient Chinese religion and philosophy that monks practice in this historic monastery, which dates back to the seventh century AD. As you tour the pavilions and halls, look out for monks practicing tai chi, an art closely related to Taoism.
Next, it's time for a walking tour. You'll spend around an hour strolling through central Chengdu. Walk along the Funan River, past the giant, contemporary Sichuan Museum, and into landscaped Huanhuaxi Park, complete with rushing streams and bamboo forest.
After exploring the park, you'll take the taxi to the final destination---People's Park. It is a place where you can have a glimpse of locals' relaxed life, you may see how happy the locals enjoy their life here by singing and dancing. And you can join them to sit down in a traditional tea house to have a cup of green tea for the rewarding of this short walk.
