Explore the real Andean Ecuador on this one-day cultural tour takes you to one of the most beautiful lagoons in Ecuador and South America. Visit the amazing Laguna Quilotoa where you will hike down to the lake. Also visit a local market and meet a family in one of the surrounding villages, paying special attention to the culture and rural life of the indigenous Andean people. Your shared tour will depart from a centralized meeting point in Quito.
Begin your tour by meeting the group at a central meeting point in Quito. Depart from La Mariscal at 7am or Old Town at 7:20am. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Transportation to Quilotoa will take approximately 2 hours. Start by exploring a Saquisili market if your tour is on a Thursday. If you are traveling on a Sunday, you will visit Pujili. You will have the opportunity to meet a native family.
Next, begin hiking down to the Quilotoa lake. You will have some time to explore the Laguna shore before beginning your ascent to the Laguna viewpoint (you may optionally rent a mule for $10 USD). Take a break to enjoy a local lunch around 3:30pm. Finally, make a stop to visit a Tigua community before returning to your shared meeting points in Quito at the conclusion of your tour around 7pm.
