This hike through the area of production of Barbaresco involves walking through the vineyards on off-road trails and, partially, on paved and narrow countryside roads which connect the centre of the medieval hamlet of Barbaresco with several other communities and farms spread across the same municipality. The most relevant perk about Barbaresco is the natural conformation of the hills, shaped like amphitheatres, which influence Nebbiolo grapes with a specific microclimate and exposure and guarantee to walkers to plunge completely in the quiet countryside, away from any traffic noise. The itinerary is about 6 miles long (10 km) and goes from the level of the Tanaro river up to panoramic hill crests; along the way stop in a local winery off-the-beaten-track for a tasting of at least four wines including the Barbaresco paired with a traditional "farmer's brunch", a cold light lunch featuring cold antipasti, salami, cheese, breadsticks and other delights.
