A journey to Peru is not complete without visiting Arequipa, the beautiful white city of Peru, and getting the chance to see the amazing condor soaring through the sky in its native habitat of Colca Canyon. Much of the architecture in Arequipa is made of a white volcanic stone, Sillar, hence its nickname of the white city. This gorgeous city combines tradition and modernity in peaceful harmony while providing the gateway to the tradition and breathtaking scenery of Colca Canyon.
We pick you up from your hotel in the city of Arequipa and transfer you to the Ashlar Quarries in the district of Cerro Colorado. In a time of approximately 30 minutes from the center of Arequipa we arrive at this place known as the Quarries Añashuayco.
In this place we can see where it is that the stonemasons take the Ignimbrite rock and then patiently manage to develop the Sillar. We will explain in detail the preparation and also tell you more about the story behind the Sillar.
In due time we return to the city of Arequipa and leave it at your hotel or city center.
