Mount Victoria - This is where filming for Lord of the Rings began in the “Hobbiton Woods. Scenes include: “Frodo Tree”, “Shortcut to Mushrooms”, “Get off the Road”, “Race to the Ferry”.
Miramar - A suburb of Wellington and home to the movie industry. We’ll show you where the studios are and visit the Weta Cave.
Weta Cave - The retail arm of famous special fx company, Weta Workshop with picture and purchasing options. We also offer an optional add-on Weta Cave Workshop Tour (cost is extra $28/adult). A Weta technician guides you through a Weta Workshop display area, explaining processes for creating weapons, suits of armour, latex products and other film props. Those who decide not to include this option instead watch Weta's 25-minute behind-the-scenes video and have extra time to browse around the Weta Cave.
The Wellington Movie Tour runs daily from 2:15pm-6.30pm, with 5 pickup locations throughout Wellington City.
