Your English-speaking local guide will collect you from your Hoi An hotel at 8am for the bicycle journey to Tra Que village. Explore the village, famous for farming the sweet vegetable that gives it its name, and join in daily farming life. From here, you'll cycle along the De Vong River to Victoria Wharf, where you'll catch a boat to the Cua Dai sand dunes. Here you'll watch fishermen casting their nets – they'll even teach you how!
At 10:30am, you'll continue to Cam Thanh Water village by air-conditioned minivan, to discover the area's fascinating Vietnam War era history – later, you may well be able to talk to local people about their memories of the Vietnam War. Learn how to catch crabs and paddle the traditional circular bamboo coracles that are so popular in coastal Vietnam, before the group divides into teams for a coracle race, complete with prize for the winner.
Lunch is at noon, and includes local specialities like pancake, fresh fish, and tam huu spring roll. After lunch, you'll learn how to make tools from palm leaves, before setting out for Hoi An Old Town at 1:30pm to experience the daily life of fishermen along the Thu Bon river. You'll be back at your Hoi An hotel around 3pm.
