From February 22nd until June 3rd 2018 Villa Reale hosts the exhibition Mangasia: Wonderlands of Asian Comics, an exhibition signed by Paul Gravett and realized with the Barbican Center in London.
On display the largest selection of original works of the Asian comic world, displayed alongside their commercial counterparts, printed for the mass market.
The exhibition will also focus on the creative process that leads to the creation of stories, starting from the screenplays and passing through sketches and layouts, up to the complete pages.
The exhibition focuses on the evolution of the art of comics in East, South and South-East Asia; on one hand there is the pleasure given by art, thanks to the beautiful and diversified presentation of many images of comics from Asian countries. On the other, an articulated and exhaustive exhibition path that inserts images, works and multimedia materials in a fascinating context, making this exhibition an unmissable event for lovers of the genre but which will find great interest in a much wider audience as the influences of the Manga have permeated the life of all of us.
Treating the art of the Asian comic in every aspect - the history, the influences, the social context, the latest developments and more - Mangasia is also an instructive study on the myths and oral traditions of the past and present of the Asian continent.
Mangasia is therefore the first exhibition that explores the nexus of creativity in the art of comics in Asia and the ways in which these "Wonderlands of Asian Comics" unite and contrast in all their diversity and dynamism.
"Mangasia is not only an exhibition on comics, but rather its celebration, through the discovery of the influence of Asian culture on our Western." These are the words of Nuova Villa Reale Monza that welcomes the works with great enthusiasm and interest.
The staff of Villa Reale organizes in-depth activities with guided tours, thematic, theatrical and workshops for children, teens and adults, the complete calendar on the site in the activity section and on the facebook page @glieventidivillarealemonza.
