On 10-20 January the Teatro Regio staged Madama Butterfly . Butterfly, the protagonist of Puccini's masterpiece, is a female delicate as a butterfly's wings. Daniel Oren's return to the podium of the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Regio is highly appreciated. Stage direction, scenes and costumes are by Pierluigi Pizzi. The refined stage fittings place Butterfly in a Japan that is neither oleographic nor folkloristic. It is presented as a poetic memory of a country evoked with melancholy.
