Based in tardosettecentesco women's Hospital, neo-Renaissance façade from the 19th century, the Museum houses by 1996 the most significant works of ceramist caltagironese Gianni Ballarò (1914-1991), and other collections of various contemporary artists. In fact, of the various works contains editions of the National Ceramics Exhibition, organized by the municipality of Caltagirone from the 80 's of last century, which have added acquisitions and donations. Different and heterogeneous are the origin and cultural array of artists. Some of local origin, as Franco Cannilla, Capel, Pagh, Luigi Pero and Francesco Cusumano; in other editions of the national exhibition of ceramics, as Luigi Mainolfi, Luigi Ontani, Lucilla Catania, Ettore Consolation, Aldo Rain, Paul Klerr. In addition, for donation of the same authors, paintings by Francesco Giombarresi and Turi, peasant artist brought to the fore by Leonardo Sciascia. The Gallery has an extensive video library, a documentary and photographic archive and an interesting library
