DIOCESAN MUSEUM OF SACRED ART IN SAN MINIATO

PIAZZA DEL DUOMO, 2 (San Miniato)

Oggi: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
2:00 PM-4:00 PM

The Diocesan Museum of sacred art, housed in the buildings which were once used for the sacristies adjoining the Cathedral of Santa Maria and Genesio, houses the largest collection of works of art of the city of San Miniato, a veritable treasure trove of religious and artistic testimonies of the territory of the diocese between the 13TH and 18th centuries.
The collection, which includes about fifty works of painting, sculpture and minor arts, is distributed in five halls of the Museum, arranged on two floors, and is exposed in a chronological order: major groups of which it is part of the furnishings of the fifteenth century and three churches in the territory, while a large number of works dating back to the 17th century came in thanks to the bequest of Cardinal S to the rectory of Montecastello in 1910.
