ETHNIC MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS MUSEUM

VIA MONTESANO, 1 (Chiaramonte Gulfi)

Located in the historic Palazzo Montesano, occupies seven halls of the first floor of the building, and contains as many as 600 musical instruments from all over the world. The collection must be attributed to the "genius" and "exploratory curiosity" of Modica, lamentation, Duccio Bader.

These are rare finds, sometimes unique, some of which are unobtainable, because coming from countries where the State is not allowed entry visa, like Tibet, which have two flutes, original sound, taken from the "Shins" human and beautifully carved, and a membranofono (bipelle: damaru drum), which uses "human" cranial caps as a soundboard. Uniqueness of individuals, by itself indicative of the intrinsic value of the collection.
