Piazza Barberini (Rome)


Between the Quirinal and the Horti Sallustiani, takes its name from the Palazzo Barberini who faces, although its entrance is located on via delle Quattro Fontane.

The imposing building, composite work by Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini, now seat of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, was built from 1625 to 1633, commissioned by Pope Urban VIIIBarberini.

At the center of the square stands the famous Triton fountain by Bernini.
