Piazza Colonna (Rome)


Takes its name from the colossal column of Marcus Aurelius, coclide or Sarah column erected in memory of the victories of the Emperor on the Marcomanni.

In the square and in the immediate vicinity there are the main national political power buildings: Palazzo Chigi headquarters of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, next to Palazzo Montecitorio, seat of the Chamber of Deputies, close to Palazzo Madama seat of the Senate.
