Triton fountain

Piazza Barberini (Rome)


The Triton fountain is located in piazza Barberini in Rome. Is the work of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, who was commissioned by Pope Urban VIIIBarberini, within the overall work of the Pontiff's Palace was built in 1625 and the square on which this overlooked.

According to mythology, Triton blowing on a conch shell to shake and waves cause a storm, or to get a sweet sound able to calm the sea.
