The customs building dating back to the 15th century and located in Piazza XX Settembre, is one of the oldest buildings in Foggia, and hosted the Director of Customs Mena Foggia sheep until the beginning of the 19th century.
The Palace is the seat of the province of Foggia. Occasionally, some ground floor rooms are used for exhibitions of various kinds. Since 2003 houses the Gallery of modern and contemporary art of the city.
UNESCO has elected the Palace to "monument Messenger of culture of peace" for having been, for centuries, a reference point for the peoples of the South.
