The Church of Santa Maria Assunta is Andria Cathedral. The Cathedral was built daGoffredo d'altavilla, Lord of Andria, in the late 11th century and early 12th century on a previous Church, dedicated to St. Peter, before the year 1000 and that today corresponds to the crypt of the building.
Inside are preserved the relics of Saint John, the Holy thorn of Jesus and the wives of Frederick II and Jolanda of Brienne, Isabella of England. The Bell Tower was built on an old Tower of Longobard (VII-VIII century);
