The Museum of sacred art was originally an Augustinian convent of the fifteenth century. Carefully restored to used as a Museum, was opened in June 2001. This museum is part of a circuit of exhibition centres of valdelsa. It is one of several museums in Florence area fortunes vicarial to aggregate religious cultural heritage scattered in the territory that, for reasons of security and custody cannot be kept in origin and that are therefore Museum structure, scientific and public visibility at fruition the most important Church of the ecclesiastical district of reference.
Palazzo Pretorio, the most representative monument of Certaldo, was the official residence of the counts Alberti, built around the middle of the century on the ruins of ancient houses of this family. Still visible are the prisons, the audience Hall, the store, the Chapel and the accommodation of the vicars.
On the façade and inside the Palace there are many coats of arms, each of which represents the effigy of each Vicar who ruled and lived.
The Palace is the main exhibition venue of Certaldo and during the year hosts different exhibitions, conferences, seminars and theatrical performances.
