The Museum intends to document the history of the Apennine landscape with particular reference to changes in the vegetation and environmental landscape. The first section is devoted to the history of the Abbey of Moscheta and action effects of vallombrosa has had on wooded settlement and organization. The second section is the landscape. The third section consists of five scenarios that show the significant historical epochs for the modification of land use: 1) the landscape of forests and castles; 2) New Lands, crops and forests; 3) the invention of the Apennine landscape: roads, countryside
The Museum documents the history of the mining industry of pietra serena in Firenzuola, with particular reference to the Organization and techniques of social work. The exhibition is divided into six sections, the first three show the protagonist stone in natural landscape, ancient and modern techniques of extraction of stone (Quarry work) and objects of daily life. The fourth section discusses the excavation and restoration of the fortified structure in which is housed the Museum, sections 5 and 6 are dedicated to stone as art stone. The Museum is built to preserve local historical roots and with the intent to know primarily for young people and anyone who comes to visit. It is compostro by three sections: Geo-archaeological Finds and Paleontological material, rural tradition and Craftsmanship, remnants of World War II in relation to the Gothic line which passed along these mountains and that characterized the territory.
