The Museum was opened to the public in 1992. The collection includes 20,000 catalogued pieces that speak of peasant life from 1500 to 1918 in the period in which the County of Gorizia was dominated by the Habsburgs.
The material collected is divided into three major buildings: an 18th century structure that once housed the cellar and barn, a 19th-century building that was the stables and barns and a shed of the mid 20th century.
