The complex built in the early 16th century, consists of 18 host chapels scenes from the life of Christ in Passionedi and terracotto that, in their polychromatic together, reproduce the topography of the city of Jerusalem. Since its origins the place became the substitute pilgrimage to the Holy Land, with indulgences under Pope Leo X. The Museum was built in 1982 on the initiative of the municipality in collaboration with the Circolo minerealogico and paleontological Val d'Elsa in order to preserve and display fossils, prehistoric, Zoological and mineralogical of the territory of Montaione, in addition to a collection of African objects donated by private individuals.
