The Museum was established to preserve and allow the fruition of the oldest evidence of human life in the territory of the high valleys of the Lamone, Senio and Santerno, from prehistory until the middle ages. Prehistoric finds are exhibited in a narrative context that illustrates the most important stages of human evolution from a somatic and cultural view. There are numerous testimonies of pre-Roman settlements and the Romans which follow those from numerous castles that, between the 14th and 17th centuries, led to their events the fortunes of the territory.
The Museum documents the life and work of the Apennines population. The material consists of objects collected in the territory and in use up to the depopulation of the mountain: objects and tools for agricultural production, the production craft, household, popular traditions, customs and traditions and religiosity. Opened in 1982 as the Museo della Civiltà Contadina e Artigiana was closed for works in October 2001 and re-opened with a completely new set-up the July 19, 2002.
