The Medicean aqueduct is a hydraulic engineering structure designed for the water supply of the village of Pitigliano.

Historical notes

Infrastructure construction work began from the 16th century, designed by Antonio da Sangallo the younger. At that time, the Orsini family decided to improve the water supply service, both their residence and to the entire city.

Pitigliano Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Pitigliano; Cattedrale dei Santi Pietro e Paolo) is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul in the town of Pitigliano, in the region of Tuscany, Italy.

Fontana delle Sette cannelle

The fontana delle Sette cannelle is a monumental fountain located in the historical centre of Pitigliano. Its location is on the South side of piazza della Repubblica, which is occupied and closed entirely by that fountain.

History

The fountain was built in 1545 at the behest of conte Gianfranco Orsini, who at the time headed the County of Pitigliano, at the head of the Medicean aqueduct. THE CIVIC ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF THE ETRUSCAN CIVILIZATION
