HOUSE WHERE AMEDEO MODIGLIANI

Since 2004 the House, which was rebuilt the furniture of the era, has considerable documentation on the life of Modigliani (coming from Archives Légales in Paris), such as photographs, documents, autographs and some original works of the master. The exhibition, curated by Guastalla, traces the artistic and human story of this great artist livornese, protagonist of the artistic avant-garde of the early twentieth century. Are also organized, periodically, lectures on various artistic topics, music events, screenings (video or slides), etc. with the intent to encourage studies on Amedeo Modiglian

Mug Castle

The castle is a large Manor House which stands in Livorno, in the South of the neighbourhood of Antignano, along the coastal road to Quercianella on the coast called "Pitcher" or "pirate Cove".

The castle is located in the first section of the cliff of the Romito, a short distance from the tower and the Castle Calafuria Sonnino. The complex consists of a rectangular body, surrounded by three small round towers. On the face closest to the sea rises the ancient Medicean Tower instead.

The view is impressive but the castle is not open to the public as a private residence.

New Fortress

The new fortress is a fortress of Livorno.

It represents the ancient "bastion of San Francesco" pentagonal City designed by Bernardo Buontalenti and originally embraced the "bulwark of Santa Barbera. Today it is a large public park, with a suggestive view on ditches and on the piazza della Repubblica.

Old Fortress

The old Fort is a fortification that stands at the edge of the Medici port of Livorno. The real Fortress dating from the 16th century, when doctors have become masters of the castle of Livorno, began a major transformation of existing structures.
The old fortress has an asymmetrical shape and consists of three bastions (the Ampolletta facing the city, the Canaviglia towards the port and the Captain to the North-East).

Besides the sturdy door opens a gallery covered with a central drain a ceiling and iron gate. There was the guard post and immediately following the "courtyard d'arme" square. In

Il Romito

The Livorno is a waterfront promenade that runs for several kilometres along the coast of the Ligurian Sea, starting from the port area, until you reach the town of Antignano and finish the coastline of Romito.
The path of urban waterfront labronico Castle ends of the Pitcher, in the southernmost area of Antignano. From here, along the via Aurelia (who took the name of via del Littorale), opens a stretch of coastline overlooking the sea particularly impressive, tentatively known as The Romito, where signs emerge of an old lookout stations (the Torre di Calafuria and the Castello Sonnino).

Is one of the most interesting buildings of Livorno in the second half of the 19th century, where there is also the influence of the great architecture of 19th century iron and glass.
