Carnival Citadel

The Citadel of Viareggio is a totally dedicated structure at the Historic Carnival of Viareggio. Here are built the impressive carnival floats. In  summer there are interesting events that are set up in the large elliptical square central.in the inner ring of the structure you can admire the master craftsmen of the floats and papier mache work, chat with them and find out allegories and stories behind the figures.

Molo di Viareggio

Nel 1577 furono costruiti due prolungamenti del Canale Burlamacca, il molo. Su queste banchine si svilupparono le prime attività marittime. Nel 1740l'ingegnere Bernardino Zendrini fece costruire una cateratta sul canale per evitare che l'acqua del mare arrivasse al lago di Massaciuccoli. Nel 1820Maria Luisa di Borbone-Spagna, duchessa di Lucca fece costruire la prima darsena, la Darsena Lucca, completata nel 1823. Built at the turn of the last century, the Bagno Balena presented itself as a construction made entirely of large wood characterized by large arch which marked the entrance of the beach.

Church of Sant'Antonio (Viareggio)

The Sant'Antonio Church is a place of Catholic worship in Viareggio, province of Lucca, located in Corso Garibaldi 157. It is seat of the parish, governed by the Friars Minor.

History

The early church was built in the old town of Viareggio between 1624 and 1638, soon after the building of the first Church of the town (now the Church of the Annunciation, St Peter), built in 1600. The Church of St. Anthony was established as a parish in 1650 and was equipped with a baptismal font in 1661. The Museum presents the collections in a flexible way in the municipality of Viareggio, a wealth of approximately 3000 works largely donated by private individuals. The exhibition is divided into two sections. The first is devoted to artistic research in Italy and Europe in the 20th century (with eyes also on some reality outside Europe. The second is devoted to artistic appearances in Viareggio and Versilia in the 20th century, presents the history of the city's ties with some of the protagonists of modern and contemporary art, with a look also at some local authors.
