The castle of Malaspina di Fosdinovo, is located in the homonymous village and still dominates with its imposing 14th-century mole the Tyrrhenian coast and the Val di Magra which opens behind him. In the early 14th century Lord of the entire Spinetta Lunigiana, moved his residence to the Castle. Shortly after the Lord of Lucca, Castruccio Castracani, held the castle under a long siege temporarily removing the Malaspina who managed to resume it after the decline of the great leader of Lucca in 1334.
The historical memory of the world war and resistance, recomposed through testimonials from actors, is the backbone of the Museum, in which live the ancient traditions of oral storytelling and cutting-edge video projection technologies. The Museum therefore is not seen as a collection of memorabilia, but instead aims to preserve and transmit audiovisual tools an asset much more valuable as the memory of the witnesses of the events.
