Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore

The basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is a church which is inbergamo high, in piazza del Duomo. Built in the second half of the 12th century, the exterior retains the Romanesque-Lombard architecture, while the Interior is decorated in the Baroque style (1500 to 1700). It was originally the Church of St. Vincent's Cathedral, built next to the Diocesan curia of Bergamo.

It was built to fulfil a vow to our Lady in 1133 by Baggio because protected from the plague that Bergamo was cutting down on Northern Italy.

Rocca

The Rocca di Bergamo is located in the upper part of the town on the Hill of Sant'Eufemia.
The construction of the fortress began in 1331.

From May 7, 2004 the building inside the Tower, already housing of the grenadiers, the current section features historical Museum of Bergamo, while the forecourt is home to celebrations.

The fortress, due to its elevated position, and especially of the keep Tower, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view at 360 degrees on the plain and the Alps, are a significant tourist flow.
