Masegra Castle is located in Sondrio in a dominant position, at the mouth of the Valmalenco. Is the only one of the three castles citizens survived the dismantling of all fortifications of Valtellina from Grisons placed in 1639; This is due to the fact that it was at the time the residence of the powerful family Salis Grisons. The "Fulvio Grazioli" mineral exhibition is located in the rooms of the historic Palazzo Martinengo, by courtesy of Sondrio Town Council and of the Grazioli family and thanks to the cooperation of the Valtellina Institute of Mineralogy (IVM). The historical residence of the Sassi de' Lavizzari family in the heart of the historical centre of Sondrio was built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 18th. The most interesting room, located on the first floor, is the "stua", a typical feature of the alpine area completely lined with wooden panelling. The Palazzo Pretorio, or Reason, today seat of the municipality of Sondrio, has undergone many changes over the centuries.
