Pitinum Mergens Antiquarium

the Museum, opened in 2002, is housed in the former headquarters of the municipality of Acqualagna, in a 16th-century building.
The Museum houses the finds of the excavation of the area in which the town of Pitinum Mergens Roman era and a section of contemporary art.

Near Acqualagna are archaeological remains pertinent to the ancient via Flaminia, the main artery of the Roman age in the territory, opened in 220 BC by Gaius Flaminio to connect Rome to Ariminum (Rimini). The road was the Valley of the Tiber to the Apennines where, through the favour of the Splinter (632 m), descended on the Adriatic side along the Metauro Valley until Fanum Fortunae (Fano) which continued for Pisaurum (Pesaro) to reach up to Rimini with a path along the coast.
