The Civic Museum of Rieti is one of the oldest museums of Lazio.
The original nucleus of the collection began to form in late Renaissance age, when a series of gravestones were gathered and placed under the porticoes of Palazzo Comunale of the city. The Museum comprises two sections: the historic-artistic Section is located on the second floor of the Palazzo Comunale and the archaeological site was located within the former monastery of s. Lucia, dating to the 13th century.
