The Hellenistic-Roman theater, built in the 2nd century. BC, is the most great example, for both sizes for scenic location, among those documented in Campania. The building, damaged by the earthquake of 62 a.d., underwent important restorations and survived the terrible Vesuvius eruption of 79 a.d. After the 4th century. d.c., fallen into disuse, was slowly spoliato its most precious items as long as subsequent floods in the middle ages not erasing the memory.
The archaeological area includes some large funerary monuments dating from the 1st century. BC and lined up along a road out of the town of Nuceria and moved towards the East. Currently three are visible on the seven identified monuments: monument of Charles, the Lutatii and the Numisii.
