It was established in 1954 as a subsection of the State archives in order to preserve the documentation relating to the town of Caltagirone and its surroundings, rich in history and territory strongly characterized, so that for several years has been the request to form a new regional province of Caltagirone-Sud Simeto.
With D.P.R No. 1409 of September 30, 1963 became, like the other Subsections of archival administration, State Archives section and, after transferring in various forums, is now housed in the premises of communal property of the former girls ' school St. Louis.

GALLERIA CIVICA D'ARTE MODERNA E CONTEMPORANEA

VIEW OF SICILIAN PUPPETS

The puppet Company of Caltagirone held sign since 1918 thanks to his animator, Don Gaetano Russo, and endured until 1989. In 1992, thanks to the intervention of the owners of the collection of Puppets and Placards and some private, the Theatre was reopened and restored to the original image.  The collection of puppets includes seventy subjects ranging in size from 1.20 to 1.45 metres, built entirely of wood, and fifty spare heads that allow you to have a large number of characters. The puppets are dresses dresses in satin and velvet and equipped with armor in iron and copper handmade.

CIVIC MUSEUM OF HISTORICAL CALTAGIRONESI AND VILLAS IN SICILY
