PALIKE ' ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA

The archaeological area of Paliki, home of the most important shrine of the Sicilian population, is regularly open to the public since January 2006.  The area was famous in antiquity as the seat of the sanctuary of the Palici, sons of Zeus and the nymph Scion. Excavations since 1995 by the Soprintendenza BB. CC. AA. House-Museum "Luigi Capuana"

Nineteenth-century noble palace in neo-classical style and House Sicilian writer. In the different living areas such as the alcove, the studiolo and the library, the noble décor, newspaper clippings, prints and photographs dating back to the youth of the writer, a service from smoke, two etchings by Telemaco Signorini Florence depicting the Old and a humorous vignette of Ugo Fleres. Among the historic goods, a letter of protest against the French occupation aimed at stopping the Italian Risorgimento. The Museum houses the book heritage of 1300 volumes of the library of the Capuchin Fathers.

MUSEO CIVICO "CORRADO THUMPER MERLINI"

It is housed in a former Jesuit monastery built in the 17th century. The exhibition showcases a historic path (from the Neolithic to the middle ages) and topography (according to the site of discovery). Among the exhibits: transport amphorae, epigraphs, artifacts from a Byzantine basilica and a castle.

' MUSEUM ' LUIGI CAPUANA

Located in Cameron, birthplace of Luigi Capuana (1839-1915), the Museum holds manuscripts, printed works, the library, the furniture and paintings that belonged to the writer. Particularly interesting are the correspondence with contemporary writers and intellectuals, including Ibsen, Balzac, Zola, Verga, D'Annunzio, De Roberto, Pirandello, Graf.
