Oropa sanctuary

The sanctuary of Oropa is a Marian Sanctuary-dedicated to the Black Madonna-located a few dozen kilometers north of the city of Biella, about 1,159 metres above sea level, in a natural amphitheatre of mountains that surround the city below and are part of the Biellese prealps. The sanctuary includes over such a sacred mountain (the Sacred Mount of Oropa), the original church built on the basis of an ancient shrine and current real sanctuary features several facilities for the hospitality of the faithful and tourists.

Archivio di Stato di Biella

The new Head Office of State Archives of Biella was designed in the 80 's on the north side of the Renaissance complex of St. Sebastian, in the city center. Duomo

St. Stephen's Cathedral is the Cathedral of the city.
The interior features decorations made in 1784 by John Galliari and others with the technique of trompe-l'oeil on all interior walls of the building.
The Church was dedicated to St. Stephen, patron of the city, following the demolition (1872) of the ancient Church of St. Stephen Old, whose origins dated from the 5th century. Old St. Stephen stood parallel to today's Cathedral on the block where still stands the Gothic bell tower.
