Explore Cairo’s dynamic Christian and Islamic history on a walking day tour of the old city. The outing is divided into two segments. First you’ll visit Christian Coptic Cairo—among the most important locations for Christians in Egypt—and visit a church and a synagogue. After a lunch break at a local restaurant, continue on to learn about Islamic Cairo, where you’ll have the opportunity to enter two mosques.
Day Tour visiting Islamic and Christian Cairo starting with a pick-up from your hotel. Your driver will take you to Old Cairo, known as Christian Coptic Cairo, which is among the most important locations for Christians in Egypt. Enter the Church of Abu-Sergah and St. Barbara, the hanging church, and the old Jewish synagogue – Ben Ezra Synagogue. (2 hours)
A one-hour lunch break at a local restaurant is included in between visits.
Then continue your day tour to Islamic Cairo that was founded in 641 A.D. by the first Muslim leader, Amr Ibn Elas. You will be able to visit and enter the following mosques: `Masjid` Amr Ibn Elas Mosque (built in 642 A.D.) and El Sultan Hassan Mosque that is also known as `Madrasa El Sultan Hassan` (founded in 1356 A.D.). After the tour finishes your driver will take you back to your hotel.
