From your hotel for a short transfer to the historic Ba Dinh complex, visit the Ba Dinh Square, representing the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed on Mondays, Fridays, and all afternoons, looking from outside the mausoleum only). Continue to the One-Pillar Pagoda which resembles a lotus blossom and gets its name from its lone support pillar. Next, visit the Temple of Literature, the first University for the Sons of Mandarins, for an overview about Hanoian culture and appreciation for ancient Vietnamese architecture.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Afterwards, drive to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple and then the infamous Hoa Lo prison. To conclude, take a cyclo (rickshaw) tour for 1 hour around the “36 meandering streets” of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Return to your hotel.
