This tour will guide you through time to when the Incas thrived and ruled Machu Picchu. This rarely visited region offers travelers a perspective into the real lives of Andean farmers and how they aggregate the land. This tour is for travelers who want to explore Machu Picchu but do not have the time to take an alternative route.
Day 01: Cusco - Aguas Calientes
We will start the expedition early this morning at 7:30am when we pick you up from your hotel. We will take a tour to Ollantaytambo, where we will take a break and continue to "Habra de Malaga", which is 4,316 meters. We will begin our descent into the thick jungle and stop at Alfamayo. A hot lunch will be waiting for us in Santa Teresa and at around 3pm we will return to the train station in Hydroelectrica. From here we will walk two hours along the train tracks. Once we arrive, we will go to our hostel, and possibly head to the hot springs, if time prevails. At 8pm we will go over the plan for the next day.
Day 02: Machu Picchu
After an early breakfast we will arrive at the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu at about 6:15am. We will take advantage of how early we arrive and enjoy the tranquility of having the mountain to ourselves. This guided tour is for approximately 2 hours but you may have up to 6 hours to hike to Machu Picchu Mountain and other peaks depending on when your train leaves. Your guide will take you back in history to when the Incas thrived on the ruins of Machu Picchu. You will also notice an abundance of llamas roaming around. If your are interested in Huayna Picchu Mountain, please plan that with us ahead of time.
