Day one - The best of Hobart.
Whilst the streets are quiet we will take you on a city highlights tour en route to Hobart’s spectacular backdrop, Kunanyi (Mt. Wellington). Take in the famous pristine Tasmanian air as we drive up the 1272m to the pinnacle where you will be greeted by the very best view of Hobart and surrounds. After you take that perfect Instagram worthy selfie, you would have no doubt worked up a hunger! It is now time for Salamanca Market. This world class market offers the best of Tassie culture - art, produce, buskers, souvenirs and beverages and much more.
After 90 minutes of exploring the markets, we will make our way to Richmond. An iconic township rich in convict history, sandstone and colonial buildings and home to Australia’s oldest bridge and catholic church. The afternoon presents you with two options. The first is Bonerong Wildlife Sanctuary where you can hand feed kangaroos and get up close and personal with all the unique Tasmanian Wildlife including the famous Tasmanian Devil - an absolute highlight, even for a local!
The second option is MONA Museum - the largest privately owned museum in the southern hemisphere! Known and loved for its quirky and strange art, this museum also offers restaurants and bars that showcase their wine and Tasmanian produce. Enjoy wandering around this amazing world renowned museum of old and new art.
Now if both options sound equally appealing, we are happy to cater for both! This will incur an additional fee of $50.00. The Mona ferry will take you back to Salamanca where you will have to make your own way back to your accommodation.
Day two - Bruny Island
Arguably Tasmania's best day trip! At the end of this day, you will understand why the tourist numbers have doubled in the past 4 years! Bruny Island has a little bit of everything mainland Tasmania has - world class beaches, national parks, rugged coastline and native wildlife matched with the finest local produce from the ocean and the land.
While its impossible to do everything in one day, we have designed various tours to fit in with the day’s weather conditions so we can provide the most enjoyable experience.
You can expect an active morning with nature walks, albino wallaby spotting, spectacular scenery lookouts, exploring pristine beaches and lagoon (swimming). This tour takes you off the beaten track and into areas that are only accessible by walking tracks that only locals know about.
After an adventurous morning, it will be time to pull it back a gear as we head to the Bruny Hotel for lunch (takeaway - at own cost) where we will eat down at the beach or on the picnic tables. After lunch pull the thongs on, unwind and relax as we sample some award winning local produce (berry farm, chocolate fudge, cheese, beverages and oysters are all possibilities! Time pending - at own cost).
