History lesson about the oldest urban settlement in Europe, medieval fortress on Danube, archaeological site of Roman city – Viminacium, million years old mammoth and breathtaking view of longest gorge in Europe.
Tour starts from Belgrade with 1 hour drive to Smederevo, with visit to Smederevo fortress – the biggest lowland fortress of Europe and last stronghold of medieval Serbia.
After visit to Smederevo, tour continues to Viminacium, where we will visit one of the largest Roman cities and potentially biggest Roman archaeological site in the world. Drive from Viminacium to Golubac Fortress through the Djerdap National Park with great views on Danube's most beautiful parts. The park’s most noteworthy feature is the Djerdap Gorge itself, which stretches for well over 100km in a boomerang shape from Golubac to Tekija, forming the longest composite valley in Europe. We will also see Golubac fortress – medieval fortress, strategically located on the embankment of the Danube River, and visit Lepenski Vir – oldest urban settlement of human in Europe (compressed between 9500/7200-6000 BC) as well as Kapetan Misin breg – ethno complex with mind blowing view of Djerdap gorge.
