This budget Namibian safari is a good option for adventure and nature lovers who have limited travel time and wish to explore the Namib Desert. A short small-group tour that caters for adventurers and those who enjoy the adrenalin rush of the coastal area activities from sand-boarding to quad biking and skydiving amongst others. The magnificent sand dunes of the Sossusvlei offer wonderful views of the incredible Namibian landscape and on this tour you will have the chance to climb and explore this ancient area.
Day 1: Hotel a la Mer, Swakopmund (L)
Leaving Windhoek by 8am, you will head west to the coast. Your first official stop is the Walvis Bay Lagoon and here you will see many species of wetland birds, including the greater and lessor Flamingo. Arriving in Swakopmund mid afternoon there is time to explore this quaint seaside town on foot. Meet up with the guests coming from Etosha who will join you on our adventure to Sossusvlei. Overnight accommodation on a twin share basis with en-suite facilities with dinner at own expense in one of Swakopmund’s many restaurants.
Day 2: Desert Camp, Near Sesriem (BLD)
After a brief pre-departure talk, depart for the Namib Desert. You will travel via Kuiseb Pass and Gaub Pass to continue on to Solitaire and our camp. Arrive at camp late afternoon and have a chance to relax and enjoy the views before taking a short walk for sunset overlooking the Naukluft Mountain range. Overnight is based in twin rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathroom facilities. Dinner prepared by your guide.
Day 3: Desert Camp, Near Sesriem (BLD)
Depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise. Drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4x4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of this place in early morning light and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the region. Explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colors. Either walk or take the 4x4 shuttle back to your vehicle. As upi drive back to your accommodation, you will stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb this dune if you wish or just wander around the base. Return to Sesriem and visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, before arriving back at your lodge late afternoon to watch the sunset over this spectacular desert. Overnight in twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathrooms. Dinner prepared by your guide.
Day 4: Windhoek (B)
After an early breakfast, travel to Solitaire Guest Farm where you will join a biologist to track wild cheetah at the N/a'ankuse Namib Conservation Centre. Return to Windhoek via Bullsport and Rehoboth arriving mid afternoon where you will be dropped at your accommodation.
